Newnan-Coweta Chamber Member designates a public charity

Tony Pourhassan – the founder and company principal for Atlanta-based custom construction and renovation firm, Highlight Homes – is proud to announce his latest project-in-development: The Georgia Redevelopment Foundation. Since receiving the news from the Internal Revenue Service in December 2011 that his non-profit concept had been approved for a 501(c)3 Public Charity designation, Pourhassan has been hard at work trying to take his vision of an organization geared at helping homeowners in need to the next level.
Smokey Road Middle school principal Laurie Barron completes service on Education Advisory Board
Dr. Laurie Barron, principal of Smokey Road Middle School, recently completed a year of service on Governor Nathan Deal’s Education Advisory Board for Principals.
Barron was one of 13 principals in Georgia to serve on this board. Members of Governor Deal’s Advisory Boards for Teachers, Principals, School Board Members, and Superintendents attended a Reception Honoring the Education Advisory Boards at the Governor’s Mansion in Atlanta on November 17, 2011.
21 Years of Green Tradition Continue with Christmas Tree Recyling
Get your home back in order after Christmas the easy and green way by recycling your live tree. Keep Georgia Beautiful, The Home Depot, The Davey Tree Company, 11-Alive, Earth911.com and Ferry-Morse Seed Co. have “chipped” in to sponsor the 2012 Bring One for the Chipper event. Locally, the Coweta County 4-H club and Coweta County Environmental Management will be running the program.
For more than 20 years, the Bring One for the Chipper event has helped Georgia residents recycling by promoting local drop-off centers for live Christmas trees. You can bring your tree to the recreation facility on Temple Avenue (the Old Fairgrounds) on the official “Bring One for the Chipper” day - January 7, 2012 from 9 am - 4 pm OR in Coweta County you can bring your tree to any of the county compactor sites from December 27, 2011 through January 14, 2012. HOSPITAL UNDERGOES CONSTRUCTION, SET TO OPEN SEPTEMBER 2012

Construction on our fifth Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) hospital is underway in Newnan, Georgia. Opening September 2012, our state-of-the-art, all-digital hospital will serve cancer patients and their families from across the Southeast.
On November 3, 2011, we celebrated the completion of the building’s steel frame with a “topping off” ceremony. Executives from PSA Dewberry, Okland & Batson-Cook, local business and civic leaders, as well as our growing team in Newnan, attended the event. A workforce of over 400 has been onsite in recent weeks, working diligently to ready the building for this impressive milestone.

MBM FOOD SERVICE CREATES 100 NEW JOBS IN NEWNAN
Gov. Nathan Deal announced November 10 that MBM Foodservice will expand its Georgia operations by opening a food distribution facility in Newnan in Coweta County, creating 108 new jobs. MBM will invest $12.6 million in the opening of this new foodservice distribution facility.
